Sadly the number 1 recording is missing. | During the Autumn of 1976 Radio 1 ran a competition for eight weeks in which listeners had to forecast 'next week's' top 3 singles. Also at the same time they were asked to nominate their all-time no.1 record. A Top 100 chart was then compiled from these nominees, in order of popularity. 
This chart was run down in Tony Blackburn's Christmas programme and again on the Jubilee Bank Holiday June 7th 1977 with Tony Blackburn, Paul Burnett and Noel Edmonds from 9am-2pm. During the show much 'high jinks' were spoken about, including Paul putting out fires on the M4 and wrecking his car, Tony 'accidentally' pouring a bottle of Champagne down his throat and climbing a flagpole and Noel following a bee on the Royal Procession! |
