Born in Harlow, Essex in 1967, Jakki's family moved to Ayr in Scotland when she was four years old. Her radio career began at various local Scottish radio stations, moving to Capital Radio in 1987 and Radio 1 in June 1988. Here she presented the weekday early evening show, later the Drivetime slot and finally the weekday lunchtime show. Jakki was the first female broadcaster to broadcast a daytime slot on Radio 1. She interviewed many celebrities from Madonna to Paul McCartney. Jakki left BBC Radio 1 after five years to work in San Francisco in 1994. She worked freelance for BBC Radio and as a news producer/interviewer on San Francisco radio and TV. Later Jakkie became a media consultant for blue chip electronic Companies.
In 2000 Jakkie moved to LA covering both Hollywood and hard news for British morning television company GMTV. At GMTV she is known as Jackie Brambles. In July 2003 Hollywood actor Colin Farell stunned Jackie when she asked him in an interview who he would kiss at a party - he then planted a big smacker on Jackie's lips. Jackie said afterwards, "The filthy looks I got off the girls in the press line - it was fantastic!"
