Born 1974 in Leeds, Chris started his DJ career at Radio TopShop in his home town and at 16 joined Aire FM, not as a presenter, but he did fill in during DJ absences. His success there led him to work for RTL Radio Luxembourg until its closure. This followed with other UK stations including Signal Radio (Stoke) and GWR (Bristol).

  • He broadcast for Capital FM (late show) for 1 year from 1996 which included features 'True or False and ''Fly Boy Flip'. People phoned in for a chat, but Chris jokingly mocked them if he considered them boring.

  • He commenced with Radio 1, in July 1997, presenting the early breakfast show, commencing 4.00am. He styled himself as "The Saviour of Early Morning Radio" with guests including Clive Warren. He was Managed by BBME, (Bruno Brookes Media & Entertainment) from 1997 to 1999, later by Vivienne Clore who Managed Zoe Ball.

  • Chris is known for attracting controversy during his shows with his occasional use of crude humour and opinions.

  • He fronted the Summer Roadshow in 1998 and that year he was promoted to present the late afternoon show, assisted by Producer Will and Comedy Dave. Sun readers voted him DJ of the Year 1998. His One Big Belly tour visited 5 UK Coastal resorts in 2000, and in 2001 and Chris was one of the Main DJs on the One Big Sunday events.

  • His Saturday morning show was taken over by Jamie Theakston in August 2001.

  • More than five million listeners tuned in to his afternoon show on Radio One to hear the latest onslaught!

  • Chris took over the Radio 1 weekday breakfast slot from Sara Cox in January 2004. His first show was launched with a 5 minute 'jingle' about the previous presenters and the first record was 'Flowers in the Rain' by the Move, which was the debut record played on the new Radio 1 in 1967. His show also included a chat with Victoria Beckham.
